Diversity

Definition

Diversity refers to characteristics that make us unique such as our cognitive skills and personality traits as well as things like race, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and cultural background.

To better understand diversity, we can think about it in a social context. For example, at work you might interact with co-workers of different genders, age groups, faiths, etc. Although the first things that come to mind when we talk about diversity are race and gender, there is more than that.
